Our team is passionate about conservation restoration. We collaborate with industry leaders on ways to better help restore local ecosystems. Our corporate mission is to ‘restore the earth’s ecosystems one tree at a time’.
The environment is under pressure worldwide. But together we can improve the land around us. Here are four primary factors leading to the destruction of local ecosystems.
1. Invasive Species
The natural world has evolved for millions of years. Native plants and animals developed to coexist and support local ecosystems. When plants are used outside of their natural environment, results can be disastrous. Non-native plant species impact the interaction of plants with pollinators. If used, they may distract pollinators from visiting less showy natives. Exotic plants may become invasive.
Native plants promote healthy populations of native animal species. They also support healthy, vibrant soils.

2. Pollution
It would be impossible to list every contributing factor to environmental pollution. Carbon emissions, runoff containing chemicals and discarding hazardous materials are a few factors.
While affects may not be immediately clear, they are impactful throughout the environment.
3. Climate Change
Climate change affects local and global environments. With temperatures rising, a trend expected to continue, plant hardiness zones are shifting. It can also impact wildlife reproduction.
4. Habitat Change
Wildlife habitat can change due to natural causes like drought and storms. Humans also disrupt habitats through agricultural practices, deforestation, and modification of wetlands.
Forrest Keeling Is Committed to Restoring Local Ecosystems
Since our founding in 1948, Forrest Keeling has been a leader in the nursery industry. As resilient as our native plants, we’ve grown through the years. From humble beginnings, we continue to meet challenges along the way. Our plants are the benchmark for conservation remediation projects throughout North America.
Over seven decades later, our family-owned Nursery continues to live out our mission, ‘…to restore the earth’s ecosystems one tree at a time.’
